The best açaí bowls in Nice and Monaco
The açaí bowl has moved from niche product to standard fixture on every healthy menu in Nice. Everyone makes one now, so the difference comes down to the quality of the cream and whether sugar has been added.
Four addresses, three in Nice and one in Monaco, from sit-down coffee shop to takeaway counter. The ones that skip added sugar are flagged.
The selection
Casa do Açai
Part Brazilian ice cream shop, part neighbourhood coffee shop, with enough seating to stay an hour. Bowls are built on fresh fruit with no added sugar. Start with the Rio: açaí cream, banana, strawberry, oat granola, chia and house peanut butter.
Where to get coffee
Amazonia Açai Nice
Pushes further than the standard bowl, with combinations you will not find elsewhere in Nice. Go for the Amazonia Bowl: granola, cupuaçu cream, mango, strawberry and honey. Generous and sweet, more a meal than a snack.
Where to get coffee
Seaside Juicery
A reliable stop in Monaco for something fresh. The whole menu is built on smoothies, cold-pressed juices and plant-based recipes. Best taken away and eaten in a park rather than standing at the counter.
Where to get coffee
Oakberry Açaï
Build your own bowl topping by topping, or take one of their signature recipes. Two locations in Nice: rue Halévy and rue du Marché in the Old Town. The Pistachio is the richest on the menu.
