The best rooftop bars in Nice
Nice has fewer rooftops than you would expect, and they are not all worth the lift ride. Most sit on top of hotels, which shapes the experience: the view is usually excellent, the service solid, but the mood swings from quiet lounge to full cocktail bar with a DJ.
Here are the four we genuinely recommend, and what sets each apart. One tip that applies everywhere: book the sunset slot, it is the only one that sells out.
The selection
Farago on the Roof
On the eighth floor of the AC Hotel, the full rooftop programme: sea view, cold cocktails, sharing tapas and long tables facing the Promenade. DJ sets and live music in season. Book the sunset slot.
117 Rue de France · Where to drink
Elaïo
At the top of Le Méridien, the most Riviera version of the Nice rooftop, with the Baie des Anges as a backdrop and Mediterranean cooking that does more than accompany the view. Chic without being stiff.
Promenade des Anglais · Where to drink
BClub Rooftop
Above the Boscolo, with the charm of places you do not stumble upon. Grand hotel, discreet terrace, Mediterranean cooking and a well-mannered Riviera atmosphere. The rooftop to know when you want to avoid the crowds.
Where to drink
Moon Bar
Above the Aston La Scala, looking at Nice from an angle people forget: the rooftops of the Old Town, place Masséna just below and the sea beyond. A hideaway suspended over the centre. Ideal for a first drink.
