The most beautiful hidden terraces in Nice

TJBy the Timenjoy newsroom · Updated October 2026

Nice is not short of terraces. It is short of terraces where you can hear yourself speak. Between the Promenade, cours Saleya and the main avenues, finding somewhere quiet is a small expedition.

These four have one thing in common: they sit metres away from the noise and yet feel completely removed from it. Inner courtyards, hotel patios, gardens set back from the street. Book in season, they are all small.

The selection

Le Patio
1

Le Patio

Inside Hôtel La Pérouse, two steps from the Old Town yet already far from the noise. Lemon trees, soft light and a calm that feels almost unreal given the location. Mediterranean plates that justify the setting.

La Maison de Marie
2

La Maison de Marie

Hidden in the middle of Nice, with the charm of places you find almost by accident before wondering why you had never been. A shaded courtyard, gentle atmosphere, Niçois and Mediterranean cooking. Book in season.

La Guinguette du Couvent
3

La Guinguette du Couvent

In the heart of the Old Town, it manages to feel like you have left the city without moving. The setting of the Hôtel du Couvent does most of that: quiet to the point of being disorienting. The terrace reopens with the season.

L’Autobus
4

L’Autobus

Slightly outside the centre, with the feel of a Sunday lunch that refuses to end. Under the trees, with homemade pissaladière and a cold glass of rosé, time becomes elastic. The distance from the centre filters the crowds.

Frequently asked questions

What do you mean by a hidden terrace?
One you cannot see from the street: an inner courtyard, a convent garden, a patio. Le Patio, La Maison de Marie, La Guinguette du Couvent and L'Autobus all qualify.
Are these terraces open all year?
The most sheltered ones serve off-season, the others close their outdoor space in winter. On the Riviera the real constraint is wind rather than cold.
How is this selection made?
Every place on this list has been visited by the newsroom before it made the cut. We do not republish directories and we do not sell places in the ranking. The list is reviewed at every site update, and a place that closes or slips is taken out.
