Where to watch a football match in Nice

TJBy the Timenjoy newsroom · Updated October 2026

Watching a game in Nice is not only about finding a screen. A packed pub, a sunny terrace and a natural wine bar that rolls out a projector are three completely different evenings, and the right choice mostly depends on who you are with.

Eight places we have tested, from the classic Irish pub to the alternative for people who refuse pubs on principle. One rule everywhere: arrive at least thirty minutes before kick-off for the big games.

The selection

Le Garibaldi
1

Le Garibaldi

On place Garibaldi, a big screen and a generous terrace make this one of the safest bets in Nice for watching a game without being packed into a windowless pub. Brasserie menu so you are not watching extra time on an empty stomach.

Les Œillets

Les Œillets

Natural wine and a screen for the football was not an obvious combination, which is exactly what makes it interesting. On rue Ségurane, the screen comes out on the long terrace, with sharing plates and well-chosen bottles.

Jacques en Terrasse

Jacques en Terrasse

The match leaves the enclosed pub and moves onto a terrace right on cours Saleya, which is argument enough from May to September. Screens, cocktails, sharing plates and DJ sets taking over after the final whistle.

Au Bureau

Au Bureau

The sports pub formula done by the book: every match on a big screen, burgers, sharing boards and cold beer. Nothing original, everything solid. The obvious choice when there are a lot of you.

Goya
5

Goya

A tapas bar on the Port that built its reputation on match nights. Screens, tapas, glasses moving at a good pace and an atmosphere that lifts whenever the ball gets near the box. Good middle ground between pub and restaurant.

Van Diemen’s Pub
6

Van Diemen’s Pub

Recently redecorated and worth the walk on cours Saleya. We tested it on a match night: friendly crowd, ages ranging from twenty to sixty, which is rarer than you would think in that part of town. Big screens and pub food.

Lou Pastrouil

Lou Pastrouil

A wide terrace, generous plates and an unfiltered Nice atmosphere. This is where locals watch a game in the sun rather than in the dark. You come for the score, stay for the arguments with the next table.

Ma Nolan’s
8

Ma Nolan’s

The classic of the genre in Nice, and the option that works without thinking when you need screens, pints and a match atmosphere. Very international crowd, which changes the whole experience. Arrive early for big games.

Frequently asked questions

Which bars show live sport in Nice?
Le Garibaldi, Les Îlets, Jacques en Terrasse, Au Bureau, Goya, Van Diemen's Pub, Lou Pastrouil and Ma Nolan's show matches regularly. Irish and Australian pubs are the most reliable on international competitions.
How early should you get there for a big match?
An hour before kick-off for an OGC Nice game or a France international. For an ordinary fixture, fifteen minutes will do.
Is every match shown?
No. Broadcasting rights shift constantly and no single bar holds every subscription. A phone call before you walk over saves the disappointment.
